Radio recording of the now-defunct WQSX “Star” (93.7 FM) Lawrence, Massachusetts.

Star 93.7 was a very women-oriented rhythmic adult contemporary radio station. I mean, seriously. The first song on this aircheck is “It’s Raining Men.”  The station later evolved to be more of a mainstream dance/disco station a year later, but in 2005 was replaced by “Mike FM.”

The recording features a rare promo for news reports, a programming feature many music stations added in the wake of the 9/11 terrorist attacks the year previously.
